DSD Brings Back the Felt Experience of Pure Sound

This Man - The REASON why I got into this...

Meet Gus Skinas of SONY International, my DSD mentor, I consider him a pioneer in the field, he's the reason I built my studio for this very purpose; this interview was from years ago at Super Audio Center in Longmont Colorado. Let's get started by learning how to bring back the felt experience of analog sound, Gus tells us about Ted Smith (who created the digital audio converters we use today) and Paul McGowan from PS Audio (and Octave Records), without whom we wouldn't have the equipment available to do this.

These interviews were done in Boulder Colorado not too long ago. Gus gives us the backstory of how DSD came to be, starting with the Sony-Phillips patent era through to development of the Sonoma DSD workstation system.

Recording in DSD became a grammy award thing, and now it's there for more artists and listeners, the world is more ready for it now, data storage is cheaper. Converting original analog recordings to a permanent digital (everlasting) format is what Library of Congress is doing now.

Gus teaches us how DSD works, why it's different from the format used in CD's called PCM (Pulse Code Modulation), from digital samples of 16 bit depth at 44.1kHz to MegaHertz single bit stream, why it feels like analog. We learn about special hardware and software, for recording, editing and mastering...then playback, via the SACD (Super Audio CD). His company Super Audio Center is independent from PS Audio and Octave Records. The art of this science is in the mastering, if you ask Gus.

Get as sci-technical as you want to, or don't. DSD for me is about the felt experience of sound, just as Gus described the top SONY honchos ending up in a puddle (and other folks that just don't cry), nobody can truly explain why we feel music in DSD so differently than streaming and CD's, it's more REAL. My life as a sound healing producer (see References below) is dedicated to show how medical research on pure, quality sound is showing the exact same thing. Conclusion: nobody can explain why, to me it's spiritual.

DSD over PCM is DoP and this is the transport process that makes our phones and computers, anything that can play streaming music, turn what you hold in your hand into a DSD player. DSD is now available in downloadable formats other than hard copy SACD and both HD Tracks, Native DSD and other sites have player apps you can install. Wireless limits the DSD beauty, so stick with wired headphones, or real speakers (L and R or multichannel) connected by real cables. The dynamic range capability still blows vinyl outta the water.

This interview done by Arizona AV club features Gus, and in one video, you get a great summary of hi res audio and DSD as well, plus some fun stories from his career, what he's experienced and who he's met along the way of this fascinating "Inventor" journey, living at the leading edge of audio frontiers.  He asked me over a decade ago, if NeuroSound works this well on CD, do you feel people would heal to even greater heights with it in DSD?  You know what my answer was.

Probably only true ultra-nerdy audiophiles will have stuck around to this last video, this one in Audio Engineering Society style, features Hans Beekhuyzen explaining direct stream digital format. This one is here purely because of the traditional teaching nature of the presentation. From this point on, it's all back to mystical applications, knowing spirit is carried on sound waves.

Study the Spiritual Power of Pure Sound

Changing your state
of consciousness
alters what you feel
and how you feel

Quality sound, the right frequencies and timing can change your state of consciousness. Listening to and being in the presence of good quality sound promotes engagement, resulting in a felt experience that is greater than just "hearing". It stimulates self-healing and provides the opportunity to feel inexplicable new states of being. This way, sound is the purest form of “vibrational therapy”.

Good sound benefits us at
physical, energetic &
spiritual levels
simultaneously

Our physical and energetic systems naturally relax into what feels good/right when it comes to sound, we tend to contract away from or reject that which is not “natural” from our body’s perspective. Good sound, like being out in nature, opens us up to healing yet we are surrounded nearly everywhere by bad sound, which is cheap and easily accessible.

NeuroSound invites your
whole being to relax
into healing, so there
is nothing to fear

NeuroSound's specific frequencies and sonic scapes bypass the egoic thinking mind making it easier to feel joy in the real you. Inner freedom means no more mind spinning or getting hijacked by emotions. You can relax at core level as you process and release without revisiting all that has been causing stuckness and resistance at a subconscious level.

Anjali is a tremendously gifted practitioner who has genuine connection to the higher wisdom of Source. I am an energy healer and very discerning about who I work with. Anjali has been a central part of my healing team as I navigate late stage lung cancer. Her Akashic treatments have yielded remarkable results, such as turning around cancer progression, increasing breathing capacity and lifting karmic patterning. Her vocal training has been essential. The songs she writes come from her heart…they give me chills and move me to tears. Her music is spiritually transportive, just being in presence of the vibration and energy has healing powers. She is a gift and a treasure. I can't recommend her services enough. - Marlene Z
